In the midst of World War II, the battle below the seas rages. The Nazi's have the upper edge as the Allies are unable to crack their war codes. That is, until a wrecked U-boat sends out an SOS signal, and the Allies realise this is their chance to seize the 'enigma coding machine'. But masquerading as Nazi's and taking over the U-boat is the smallest of their problems. The action really begins when they get stranded on the U-boat.

U2 Rock Crusade is the story of the band s never-ending energy, drive and commitment to social causes and of a charismatic showman s efforts to influence politics to change world policies and bring an end to poverty, hunger and social injustice. Part of what also makes U2 so special is the band s original lineup remains in tact: Paul (Bono) Hewson, Larry Mullen Jr., Dave (The Edge) Evans and Adam Clayton are family. If one member is unable to play, the band postpones a concert rather than substitute their 'brother.' Another reason they have captured the imagination of music lovers around the globe is their dedication and special relationship with fans. More than 33 years and 170 million album sales later and with more Grammy Awards than any other group in history, it s hard to believe U2 began as a teen-aged 'kitchen band' in Ireland in 1976. As well known for philanthropy as music, lead singer Bono is a tireless worker for social and economic change in Third World Countries.

Culled from 30 years of material, this collection of moments from "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" contains some of most inspired bits of lunacy ever recorded. Whether cajoling with Hollywood's biggest stars or normal folk with special talents, Carson was a master of finding the right joke, with timing second to none. Along with bits of his opening monologues, skits, and early standup appearances from the likes of David Letterman and Eddie Murphy, there are many highlights with perhaps the perfect Carson guest--exotic animals that stole the show. This collection was released shortly after Carson's reign ended in 1992. Although most of the tapes from his first decade are lost, there are plenty of highlights from the '70s through the '90s. Also included is Carson's touching and historic "Final Show," which finds the host simply talking to his audience and showing highlights--or just the faces--from his years on the set. Although many followed--and a few have even succeeded--Carson's Midwest charm made him the king of TV in a period when America was defined by television.
The DVD edition adds some superlative extras, including "Danger Johnny" segments from his first decade, short bits on the history of the show and the host, and more behind-the-scenes glances, including an intriguing way to watch the final show via unedited feeds from isolated studio cameras. Also included is the 1982 NBC special "Johnny Goes Home," which follows Carson on a tour of his rural Nebraska homeland, and a slightly edited version of the penultimate show, in which his last two guests, Robin Williams and Bette Midler, are on fire. These extras make the DVD, produced a decade after Carson left, a must-have piece of entertainment and pop history. "--Doug Thomas"

He is too proud to beg in the streets and can not get a loan from any of his acquaintances. He contracts a sore throat, is admitted to a hospital and this puts a delay on his financial difficulty. Discharged, he finds that his dog is gone and, following a frantic search, locates him in the city dog pound. Geneviève, 17, lives with her widowed mother, who owns an umbrella shop in Cherbourg. She and Guy, a twenty-year-old auto mechanic, are secretly in love and want to marry, but when she reveals this to her mother, her mother objects on the grounds that Geneviève is too young and Guy is not mature or well-established enough, particularly since he has not yet done his required military service. Shortly after this, Guy is drafted to serve in the war in Algeria. Before he leaves, he and Geneviève consummate their love for each other, which results in her becoming pregnant. While Guy is away they drift apart, and Geneviève, strongly encouraged by her mother, accepts a marriage proposal from a well-to-do gem dealer named Roland Cassard, who has fallen in love with her at first sight and has promised to bring up her child as his own. (The character of Cassard is continued from Demy's earlier film Lola (1961).) Guy is wounded and is discharged before his two-year term is up, but when he returns to Cherbourg Geneviève has already married and moved away. He struggles with depression and anger, but eventually is healed by falling in love with and marrying Madeleine, a young woman who had been caring for his now-deceased aunt Élise. Using an inheritance from his aunt, Guy fulfills his ambition of opening a service station. Years later, the now conspicuously wealthy Geneviève, traveling with her daughter, Guy's child, accidentally meet Guy at his service station. While the two have only a brief conversation about the state of their respective lives, the conversation is clearly fraught with unspoken fondness and regret.

In a dream-like sequence, a woman's eye is slit open--juxtaposed with a similarly shaped cloud obsucuring the moon moving in the same direction as the knife through the eye--to grab the audience's attention. The French phrase "ants in the palms," (which means that someone is "itching" to kill) is shown literally. A man pulls a piano along with the tablets of the Ten Commandments and a dead donkey towards the woman he's itching to kill. A shot of differently striped objects is repeatedly used to connect scenes.

"Only the good die young," a certain piano man once sang. He could've been talking about "Undeclared", the hilarious, yet heartfelt college comedy from Judd Apatow ("The Larry Sanders Show"). Alas, FOX had even less patience than NBC and cancelled it after 16 episodes, rather than the 17 granted Apatow's other fan favorite, "Freaks and Geeks".
Directed by Jake Kasdan ("The Zero Effect"), the pilot ("Prototype") sets the scene. Steven Karp (Jay Baruchel, "Million Dollar Baby") is a nerdy 18-year-old who grew seven inches over the past year and is looking to make a new start at the University of North Eastern California. Well, good news, bad news. At his first party, he makes it with Lizzie (Carla Gallo, "Carnivàle"), the bubbly girl down the hall--then finds out she has a boyfriend. Worse yet, Steven's dad, Hal (singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III), crashes it to announce he's getting divorced. Fortunately, Hal hits it off with Steven's roommates: Marshall (Timm Sharp, "Six Feet Under"), Ron (Seth Rogen, "Freaks and Geeks"), and Brit chick magnet Lloyd (Charlie Hunnam, "Nicholas Nickleby"). Other regulars include Lizzie's boyfriend, Eric (Jason Segel, "Freaks and Geeks"), and roommate Rachel (Monica Keena, "Entourage").
Steven's freshman year will be an eventful one. Aside from the loss of his virginity, he'll get his first job ("Jobs, Jobs, Jobs "), he'll meet Adam Sandler ("The Assistant"), he'll hire a speed freak (Will Ferrell) to write a term paper ("Addicts"), and his RA (Amy Poehler) will have a fling with his dad ("Hal and Hillary"). Other guests include Fred Willard ("So You Have a Boyfriend"), Mary Kay Place ("Parent's Weekend"), and Ben Stiller (the Jon Favreau-directed "Eric's POV"). This set includes all 16 episodes, plus one that wasn't broadcast ("God Visits") and an alternate, Ted Nugent-ified version of the second ("Full Bluntal Nugetry"). "--Kathleen C. Fennessy"

Winner of four Academy Awards, including best picture, director, supporting actor, and best editing, Clint Eastwood's 1992 masterpiece stands as one of the greatest and most thematically compelling Westerns ever made. "The movie summarized everything I feel about the Western," said Eastwood at the time of the film's release. "The moral is the concern with gunplay." To illustrate that theme, Eastwood stars as a retired, once-ruthless killer-turned-gentle-widower and hog farmer. He accepts one last bounty-hunter mission--to find the men who brutalized a prostitute--to help support his two motherless children. Joined by his former partner (Morgan Freeman) and a cocky greenhorn (Jaimz Woolvett), he takes on a corrupt sheriff (Oscar winner Gene Hackman) in a showdown that makes the viewer feel the full impact of violence and its corruption of the soul. Dedicated to Eastwood's mentors Sergio Leone and Don Siegel and featuring a colorful role for Richard Harris, it's arguably Eastwood's crowning directorial achievement. "--Jeff Shannon"

You have to inevitably compare this series to the UK Ultimate Force. They are just too similar. Or...it is only too obvious that The Unit has been created based on the success and brilliant idea of the Ultimate Force. Only the budget makes the main difference.

I like the series. Characters are interesting, plots are interesting. There are good action sequences. There is this secrecy magic in it.

But...and that makes it lose the 5th star...the military reality is definitely not a strong point of The Unit (see: the gung-ho action in the 1st episode as an example). The 8th episode is complete nonsense (again Ultimate Force shows what the interrogation test is all about). The steel-solid-stare of Jonas' wife who is always right etc. is just boring. Finally, the language Jonas speaks is not one of a military (Henno's harsh behavior and language add a lot to realism).

Briefly - a good series. Enjoyed watching it. I am looking forward for the second one. Even despite a number of flaws as described above.

Recommended.

Just imagine waking up tomorrow with no memory of today or any other since the day of your birth. Imagine living without a history, without experience, no relationships, no past troubles. Imagine starting your life over again, making a new set of friends, finding new talents and falling in love for the first time. Imagine what it's like to see the world anew. On the 2nd July 2003 Doug Bruce left his apartment on the Lower East Side at about 8pm. No one knew where he was going. No one knew he'd gone. He turned up, 11 hours later, on the New York subway heading to Coney Island. He had no idea who he was. Unknown White Male is the startling story of a man who, for no apparent reason, lost 37 years of life history, who lost every memory of his friends, his family and every experience he had ever known. This true story follows Doug in the hours and months following his amnesia, as he tries to pierce his life back together and has to discover the world anew. The film dramatically reconstructs those first terrifying hours in Coney Island as Doug wandered around disoriented before asking the police for help and being sent to Coney Island Hospital Psychiatric ward where he was given an identity wrist tag reading 'Unknown White Male'. Doug had nothing to identify him and whilst he discovered after a few hours that he was able to sign his name, no one could read his signature and reveal his name. Unable to leave until someone could identify him, all attention turned to the single phone number in his possession. The woman on the other end, Eva, didn't recognize him. Finally Eva sent her daughter Nadine to investigate. Nadine recognized the man she had recently become friends with, Douglas Bruce, a good looking, English 37 year old wealthy ex-stockbroker and photography student. She took him home. The film recounts the next crazy few weeks as Doug tried to reconstruct some kind of life; re-learning the streets around his apartment, re-meeting his family, re-learning the history of the world and what it feels like to swim in the ocean. It's an overwhelming voyage of discovery as Doug discovers art, music, movies the taste of every kind of different food and much of it was filmed by Doug himself who started recording his re-entry into the world just one week after the amnesia. Doctors were unable to find any physical basis for the amnesia and over the following months we follow Doug as he returns to his photography school where his tutor believes his work has greatly improved. He falls in love with a girl he has just met and slowly re-meets old friends including director Rupert Murray who filmed their first meeting even though he has known Doug for over 15 years. Will they still like one another? Together they travel back to London for a reunion with Doug's oldest friends. One year after the amnesia and his friends in London offer him a toast to his first birthday. Everyone seems sure that Doug has changed since the amnesia. Many people prefer the new Doug, find him more sincere and reflective but others miss the old Doug's edge and cynicism. Yet for the first year and a half, Doug didn't want his memory or his old self back. He was happy with his new life, believed it was possible to live without a past and simply looked forward to his future. But in the last few months all this has begun to change as the full implications of his loss have begun to resonate in his life and Doug has started to question who he really is.

"Unscripted" is to cable TV as "A Chorus Line" is to Broadway: a look at the performers in the smaller roles. Produced by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney (who also directs), the HBO comedy follows the trials and tribulations of three real-life actors, Krista Allen, Jennifer Hall, and Bryan Greenberg. The 10-part series isn't documentary, soap opera, or sitcom, but a combination of the three. It's up to the viewer to figure out where one ends and the other begins. Complicating matters is the character of Goddard Fulton (Frank Langella, "Good Night, and Good Luck"), an acting coach--and celebrated lothario--trying to help these young thespians step up their game.
In the pilot, Allen stops by "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" to talk about her latest role: tequila spokesmodel. It may not be acting, but she has a son to support and it's an improvement on her softcore "Emmanuelle" past. In the same episode, Greenberg has a walk-on on "ER" and Hall has a stand-in on "The George Lopez Show". In subsequent episodes, Allen guests on "Jake in Progress" and Hall does stand-in and background work on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Constantine". Greenberg hits the greatest heights when a recurring role on "One Tree Hill" leads to a starring role in "Prime"--opposite Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep. All go to humiliating auditions for parts they don't get.
As expected from a Clooney/Soderbergh production, stars abound, including Noah Wylie, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Hank Azaria, Keanu Reeves, and Sam Rockwell ("Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", which featured Allen and Hall). Like improvised predecessor "Curb Your Enthusiasm", most play themselves. Despite greater critical acclaim, "Unscripted", like "K Street" before it, was not renewed for a second season. It deserved better. "--Kathleen C. Fennessy"

The Beatles. Their story is told for the very first time using original rare film and video of the band, including home movies, concert footage, newsreels and photographs from private collections. There are also interviews with those who surrounded the band, and those who were there from the very start. Also included is an exclusive interview with fan and star in his own right, Phil Collins. For the first time we can see The Beatles relaxed, at play, on and off stage, on film and is a rare glimpse inside the lives of four musicians who shook the world.

Federal agent Elliot Ness assembles a personal team of mob fighters to bring Chicago crime boss Al Capone to justice using unconventional means during the mob wars of the 1920s. This fictionalized account of the arrest of Al Capone is heavy on style and gunfire. The end shootout combines a baby carriage and stairs with a nod to Eisenstein's _The Battleship Potemkin_.

This kicks off with the murder of one Adolf Schwartz (who bears a striking resemblance to another famous Adolf) by placing a ravenous piranha fish in his bathtub. Who did it? No-one knows or cares, as they're too busy being distracted by busty Margo Winchester, who hitch-hikes into# town and gets involved with all the local men. It all ends with a series of complicated plot twists that reveal that just about everyone is really someone else. And if it gets too confusing, Russ Meyer helpfully arranges for a one- woman nude Greek chorus to pop up at intervals to explain what's going on.

Their enemy is the status quo. Their only friend is chaos. They're the four sketch comedians of the Upright Citizens Brigade. In their second season on Comedy Central, Colby (Amy Poehler), Antoine (Ian Roberts), Trotter (Matt Walsh), and Adair (Matt Besser) aim their comedic throwing stars at all manner of pseudo-realistic targets, like suburban baby fighting and that sweet, powdery addiction known as Super Cool. (Sometimes they hit, sometimes they miss.) Viewers craving subtlety and nuance may want to look elsewhere. The acting ranges from broad to broader, but the situations are consistently inventive--if not brain-twistingly bizarre.
Standout installments include "Infested with Friars," a spoof of Eisenhower-era humor, and "Mogomra vs. the Fart Monster," a goof on Japanese pop culture, from noise rock to creature features (Mogomra is a giant lobster). Every episode also incorporates hidden camera encounters with the real world. "Didn't I once sell you crack?" for instance, doesn't garner any takers when directed at a gaggle of lawyers. Among the guest stars are the Wu-Tang Clan's RZA ("Bomb Squad") and Poehler's former SNL cast mates Tina Fey ("Mogomra") and Horatio Sanz ("Spaghetti Jesus," an episode bursting with excretory functions). Further, Upright Citizens Brigade served as a training ground for future movie directors, like "Bring It On"'s Peyton Reed and "Junebug"'s Phil Morrison.
The plentiful extras on this two-disc set include deleted scenes, early stage routines, an audience Q&A, and uncensored commentary on all 10 episodes (the commentary for "Spaghetti Jesus" and "Super Cool" was recorded live at the UCB Theater). Despite the parental advisory regarding "explicit content," most episode profanity has been bleeped, though the material still easily qualifies as "adult" (sexual situations, drug references, etc.).
